The Eisbademeisters Hamburg are a group that has bathed in the Elbe every winter since January 2021, collecting donations for charitable organisations in Hamburg. The new season opens on Saturday, 31 October 2026, at 11:00 on the Elbe beach in Övelgönne, level with the Strandperle. Until spring there is then one bathing day a week, mostly on Fridays at 16:00 or Saturdays at 11:00. For most bathing days, a sponsor donates an amount per person in the water to the project of the day; opening-day donations go to Café Sonnenschein. Participants give their first name on site before a short speech at the full hour. DLRG Altona lifeguards attend every bathing day. There are no changing rooms or toilets.
