About this event
De Ceuvel in Amsterdam-Noord opens the year with a New Year's dive into the Johan van Hasselt Canal on Sunday 3 January 2027, from noon to 1:30 pm. Taking part is free, but registration is required and places are limited; registration opens in November. A guide leads a warm-up and the dive, and the group enters the water in phases. Participants need at least swimming certificate B and must be over 15; under-18s come with a supervisor. Belongings can be left under the covered area outside the café, where hot chocolate and tea are available afterwards. In dry weather a fire is lit outside. Friends and neighbours can watch from the side.
